Like I said in my last post, I decided to open an instagram account for self-care threads and other tips, generally girls related issues. They mostly talk about loving yourself, being nice to yourself, being positive, being confident, accepting your flaws, and appreciating your imperfections......and a whole lot of things.
But then, we should ask ourselves how practical are these thing? On a scale of 1-10, I'd say 2....why?
It gets busy, you get busy, between sleeping in the early hours of the morning, waking up 5hours later, getting ready for classes, having 7 or 8 hours classes with just an hour break, you get back to your dorm, really tired, but then you've got to cook, do a little decluttering, keep up with your social, talk to your parents, probably have a 1hr nap cuz your head may be throbbing, then you wake up and it's 8 o'clock.....what! You may take sometime to boot to be fully awake, drink enough water, eat healthy, you've got assignments, and you've also got to study, and boom it's almost midnight and you're asking yourself what you've achieved in your very busy day.
So now in all of these, where do we find the time to paint our nails, sit and star gaze, take a walk, bake, do a DIY face mask, or do yoga, or reach out to people, or be an instagram model, or have 50 billion followers, or talk to friends and keep up with their lives? at the end of the day, we find out that we keep going in circles in our monotonous lives, and this can go on for days and weeks and months and maybe one day when you have the time to do a little reflect on the past month, you find out that you've actually not done anything journal-worthy, and it's ok to be able to relate to this, high-five baby!
I get it...and I know these things, and I try as much as possible to be realistic when creating threads, but the real realism is you. There are a few things you need to know when taking advice from self-care threads:
📌Do not take all the advices.
📌Know the ones that affect you and your situation.
📌Always do what is accessible to you.
📌No, you don't have to stand in front of your mirror everyday and recite affirmations. It can be just that singular moment on your bed, where you say it, as long as you believe, that's all you need.
📌Reciting isn't anything, believing is everything.
📌Realise it is a gradual process and it takes time.
📌It's ok if you can't find the time to do it everyday. You can probably save for later. That works too.
Now I'm not saying self-care threads should be ignored, I'm just saying its good to tell ourselves the truth and realise that were only human and not everything works, and it gets really busy, so do what makes you comfortable, take advices this comfortable with, do things in this item time. I don't know about others but my self-care threads are for fun, and just me basically sharing my ideas, or maybe something's I read that inspired me and I would love to share. Doing you after all is part of what we preach ain't it?
